MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Senior Protection Officer, the Assistant Protection Officer will assist in currying out capacity building activities for Government officials on all aspects of the refugee status determination functions-, Develop training/course materials for Indonesian authorities and other partners on refugee status determination functions in accordance with international refugee law; Socialize UNHCR’s Mandate with the Indonesian authorities to advocate for the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Indonesia; Assist in carrying out joint-training activities with/for universities, IOM, NGOs, human rights and refugee advocates as well as the public, on international refugee law; Develop a work plan and corresponding budget for implementation during UNHCR’s training activities: Carry nut administrative/financial formalities pertaining to the organization of a workshop such as arranging for hotel venue, reimbursement of transportation cost to participants; DSA payments etc; Keep abreast of developments in the field of jurisprudence, legislation and regulations in particular in areas related to UNHCR’s mandate: Prepare regular reports on training activities as required; Perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS;

  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: University Degree in Law, International Law, Political Science or related field, with 6 years of which at least 2 years of relevant training experience. Previous UN work experience and demonstrated ability in conducting training will be an asset.
  • LANGUAGE: Excellent knowledge of English and Indonesian (written and spoken). Knowledge of other regional dialects an asset.
  • DESIRABLE SKILLS: Managerial skills- Experience working in a multicultural environment and willing to travel to remote areas across Indonesia to conduct the training activities, Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Win down applications essential,
