Chief Mechanic
The Chief Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all mining equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational efficiency and safety. This role involves managing a team of mechanics, coordinating maintenance schedules, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime. The Chief Mechanic works closely with operations and safety teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards while maintaining high-performance levels of all mechanical systems used in coal extraction and processing.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy equipment repair/maintenance, with at least 8 years in a supervisory or leadership role within the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems related to mining equipment.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and maintenance management software
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in the mining industry
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
