Senior Geophysicist

One of COP Indonesia current activity is to operate an offshore major gas/gas condensate asset that is scheduled for first production August 2009.

A 2+ year development drilling of approximately 38 wells program commences summer 2008 from the first of two well head platforms.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Interpret 3-D Q-seismic survey using advanced geophysical techniques;
  • Utilize the seismic data and interpretations to optimize well locations and determine exploration potential;
  • Work with team of geologists and reservoir engineers to define how many infill and step out locations are required to optimize development;
  • Anticipate geosciences work program requirements (including additional processing, inversion, etc) and gain necessary internal/external approvals for successful and timely implementation to impact field development;
  • Network with COP specialists and contractors to deliver timely technical support. Provide mentoring of junior and senior technical staff;
  • As a senior technical BU member provide advice to management and the coordinating venture (asset) team;
  • Represent company to partners and government authorities.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Geophysics;
  • 7 + years experience in seismic interpretation, geophysics theory and applications, and exposure to seismic processing;
  • Familiarity with basics of geomodeling and reservoir simulation;
  • Experience in active drilling operations;
  • Experience in exploration and development projects;
  • Proven experience in people development and genuine interest in working in a multi-cultural multi-discipline team.
